Lamis Khalilova Bartuskova
Lamis Khalilova Bartuskova is Senior Program Officer at the MENA Partnership for Democracy& Development where she works closely with representatives of civil society, the private sector as well as governmental entities. Prior to her current position, Lamis worked on and helped launch a MENA-Transatlantic Leadership development program that was incubated at GMF between 2009 and 2010. She has since worked at GMF on MENA-related programs and study trips in the region. Prior to joining GMF, Lamis headed the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the Metropolitan University, Prague. In that capacity, she represented the Czech Republic at the Marshall Memorial Fellowship Program during the Summer of 2009. Having experienced a leadership capacity building program, “a life changing and eye opening experience”, Lamis was determined to be part of the team that starts a similar program in the Middle East& North Africa. As a student in Prague, Lamis served on the Board of Amnesty International, Czech Republic where she headed the Council for International Affairs. Lamis has also worked as facilitator and trainer in an EU funded project in Damascus, Syria in the Summer of 2008, leading a workshop that focused on, social media, active citizenship and intercultural and interfaith dialogue, the workshop marked the first international event in this field to ever be held in Syria. She is a frequent commentator in International media in English, Czech and Arabic.
